He wa...I appreciated your story about Rabbi Malino. He was in fact, "my" rabbi in that I grew up in Danbury. Everything you have said about him is of course true. Although the United Jewish Center was primarily a reform synagogue, it was the only synagogue in Danbury (and for several towns around), and Rabbi Malino conducted an orthodox sabbath service at 9 am, with the Union Prayerbook service at 11 am. We had the opportunity for excellent Jewish educations through to 11th grade. As you said, Rabbi Malino's sermons were amazing, to the degree that I expect erudition regarding text and interpretation in any sermon I hear to this day.
